Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Guyana President Mohammed Irfan Ali on Wednesday held wide-ranging talks focusing on strengthening ties. Also, India and Guyana have agreed to increase cooperation in the fields of defence, trade, energy, pharma and agriculture.

Modi in his media statement said that Guyana will play an important role in India’s energy security and a framework will be prepared for long-term partnership between the two countries in this sector. He said that the visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana after 56 years is an important milestone in bilateral relations.
