IPL Auction 2025: Lots of money showered on players in the auction on the first day

IPL Auction 2025: A total of Rs 467.95 crore was spent on 72 players on the first day of IPL auction. Wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history and on the first day of the auction, Lucknow Super Giants made a record bid of Rs 27 crore for him. Whereas Punjab Kings bought Shreyas Iyer for Rs 26.75 crore. In such a situation, Iyer was the second most expensive player in IPL history. Apart from these two players, Venkatesh Iyer was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 23.75 crore.

No one would have expected such a big bid for Venkatesh Iyer. Yuzvendra Chahal and Arshdeep Singh have also been included in the Punjab team with a huge amount of Rs 18 crores. Chahal has become the most expensive spinner in IPL history so far. Both Lucknow and Punjab needed new captains this season, and Pant and Shreyas can fill these roles. Both players have also surpassed the record bid of Rs 24.75 crore by Kolkata Knight Riders for Mitchell Starc in the IPL 2024 auction.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have the most money in their purse after the auction on the first day. Bengaluru has Rs 30.65 crore left in its purse and also has three RTMs intact. Whereas on the first day, Mumbai Indians bought the least number of players. Mumbai bought only four players, including Trent Boult, who is the only foreign player for them so far. Punjab Kings, which had entered the auction with the highest purse, spent a lot of money on players including Iyer, Chahal, Arshdeep, Mackwell, Vadhera, Vyashank and others.
