Now we can further divide these into several parts:

1. Bacterial Vaginosis:

This happens when the balance of good and harmful bacteria in the vagina gets disturbed. This is a non-sexually transmitted infection.

2. Fungal Infection (Candidiasis/Yeast Infection):

It is caused by a fungus called Candida. This infection increases when the level of fungus exceeds normal. In this your vagina becomes red. Diabetic patients are at greater risk.

3. Trichomoniasis

This is a sexually transmitted infection which is spread by a bacteria called Trichomonas vaginalis. Not using condom during sex, having sex with more than one partner – these are the main reasons for this infection.

4. Hormonal changes

Hormonal changes occur in the body of women during periods, pregnancy or menopause, these changes can also cause vaginal infections. If you do not change your pads three to four times during periods, then this infection is common.

5. Adopting wrong method in vaginal cleaning (Hygiene mistakes)

Douching or using cosmetic products to clean the vagina internally can cause infection. This is also a non-sexually transmitted infection.
