Kashmir freezes, fog slows down in Delhi… Cold will bring more havoc in North India for the next few days

Kashmir is freezing, it is snowing in Himachal, rain has increased the cold in Uttarakhand and there is a blanket of dense fog in Delhi-NCR. The entire North India is currently in the grip of severe cold and the dense blanket of fog has slowed down the speed of planes, buses and trains. Many trains and flights have had to be canceled due to low visibility. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will wreak havoc in North India for the next few days. There is a possibility of rain with cold wave in Delhi on weekend i.e. 11th and 12th January. On the other hand, rain is also expected in Himachal, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana today.

These trains are late due to fog

Many trains are running late due to dense fog in Delhi NCR. The routes of many trains have been diverted. 26 trains coming and going to Delhi are running late. 8 Train timings have been changed. Timings of 4 out of 8 trains have been changed twice so far.

There may be snowfall and rain in these states today

Apart from Delhi, rain is expected in many states today. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be rain in Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. There may be heavy snowfall in the mountains of Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. There is a possibility of hailstorm along with rain in Uttarakhand, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Today, a blanket of fog is visible from Delhi-NCR to UP, Punjab and Haryana. People are seen shivering from the cold. Yellow alert has been issued for many districts of Uttar Pradesh. Visibility was reduced on January 10 due to layer of fog and pollution in Delhi-NCR. 100m visibility was recorded at Palam station in Delhi at 2:30 am.

Be prepared, the weather will change from today

There is a possibility of change in the weather in Himachal Pradesh on 11 and 12 January. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be rain and snowfall in many parts of the state during these two days. Due to this, there is a possibility of increase in cold in the hilly areas of the state. Traffic may also be affected. The Meteorological Department has predicted snowfall in the higher areas of Kinnaur, Lahaul Spiti, Kullu and Shimla. There may be heavy snowfall in these areas, which may cause difficulties in traveling on road routes. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in low-lying areas. Due to rain and snowfall, the temperature may drop and people will have to be prepared to protect themselves from cold. Travelers and local residents have been advised to remain cautious during these weather conditions. During this period, there is a possibility of snowfall in Shimla city, Manali and Narkanda also. Although the weather remained clear in the state on Friday, a yellow alert has been issued in the plains regarding cold wave and fog for the next 24 hours.

Western disturbance is becoming active from today

Meteorologist Sandeep Sharma said that western disturbance is going to be active from January 11, due to which there is a possibility of rain in Shimla, Mandi, Kinnaur, Lahaul Spiti and some other higher areas from Saturday evening. Apart from this, snowfall may also occur in these upper areas. He said that at present the temperature in the state is normal, but due to rain and snowfall in the coming days, the temperature may drop. Due to this, there is a possibility of increase in cold and people should adopt measures to prevent cold. The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain with thunderstorms and cloudy sky during the weekend. There is a possibility of dense fog in some areas in the morning. The Meteorological Department said that the maximum and minimum temperatures on Saturday are expected to be around 15 and eight degrees Celsius respectively.

Kashmir is freezing due to cold, there may be snowfall today

Cold wave will continue in Kashmir Valley on Saturday also, where the minimum temperature was recorded several degrees below the freezing point. Officials said that there is a possibility of light snowfall from Saturday, especially in the higher reaches. Officials said the minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at minus 4.3 degrees Celsius, slightly higher than the previous night’s minus 4.4 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Gulmarg was recorded at minus 8.1 degrees Celsius, which is higher than the previous night’s minus 9.6 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Pahalgam was recorded at minus 10 degrees Celsius, whereas last night it was minus 10.4 degrees. Kashmir is currently in the grip of ‘Chilla-e-Kalan’, which is the coldest period of the winter season. During the 40 days of Chilla-e-Kalan, the probability of snowfall is highest and temperatures drop significantly. It started from 21st December.

Dense fog in Punjab, Haryana

Fog has engulfed many areas of Punjab and Haryana today, due to which visibility has reduced significantly. The oppression of winter continues in both the states. Fazilka was the coldest place in Punjab on Friday, where the minimum temperature was recorded at 2.4 degrees Celsius. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), visibility in Amritsar remained zero due to dense fog. Fog was also seen in Ludhiana, Patiala, Chandigarh, Ambala, Hisar and Karnal. The minimum temperature in Amritsar, Punjab was five degrees and in Patiala it was 6.5 degrees Celsius. It was 5.4 degrees in Ludhiana, 4.2 degrees in Pathankot, 5.4 degrees in Bathinda and five degrees Celsius in Faridkot and Gurdaspur districts. The minimum temperature of Ambala in Haryana was 7.4 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was recorded at three degrees in Narnaul, four degrees in Hisar, five degrees in Karnal and Sirsa and 8.8 degrees Celsius in Rohtak. The minimum temperature in Chandigarh, the common capital of both the states, was recorded at 6.8 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.
