LIVE Updates: In the trends, BJP alliance got majority in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, which factor worked?

Along with the results of Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections, counting of votes is going on for 46 assembly and 2 Lok Sabha seats of 15 states. Trends have started emerging in which NDA has taken lead in Jharkhand and Mahayuti has taken lead in Maharashtra. The strength of saffron is visible in both the states. In Maharashtra, Mahayuti is ahead of MVA by double the number of seats in the first hour and the same is being seen in Jharkhand also. Within one and a half hours of the counting beginning, Mahayuti has secured majority in the trends. The contest is tough in Jharkhand but here too the BJP led NDA has got majority.

It is being said that BJP worked very hard in the tribal areas this time in Jharkhand. But on 28 seats in tribal areas, NDA has not got the lead over the Indian alliance. But this performance of NDA is better than before. Along with this, BJP also worked on its OBC vote bank and the party seems to be getting benefits from it. In Maharashtra too, Congress may have to bear the brunt of internal strife. There are 41 such seats in Maharashtra where there is direct competition between BJP and Congress. In these, BJP is far ahead. Similarly, in the 53 seats where there is a direct contest between Shiv Sena and Shiv Sena UBT, the Shind group is dominant. Let us tell you that women have greatly appreciated the work of Eknath Shinde as CM. The thing is that there is a direct contest between NCP and NCP Sharad Pawar on 41 seats and the initial trends show an equal contest between the two.

Three factors are considered important in Maharashtra. In this there are women’s vote, Maratha vote and benefits of schemes. Trends show that the anti-incumbency factor in the state was of no use at all. Whereas in Jharkhand, the Hemant Soren government’s scheme regarding women does not seem to be benefiting the party much. This anti-incumbency factor is visible.

Jairam Mahato is also proving to be an important factor in Jharkhand elections this time. Jairam Mahato himself is contesting from two seats from his party JLKM.

Within a few hours it will become clear whose government is being formed where. In Maharashtra, the contest is between Mahayuti (Bharatiya Janata Party, Shiv Sena-Shinde faction, and NCP-Ajit Pawar faction) and Mahavikas Aghadi Shiv Sena-Uddhav faction, NCP-Sharad Pawar faction, and Congress). Whereas in Jharkhand, there is a direct contest between the BJP alliance and the alliance of JMM and Congress. Before the election results, both the alliances have claimed victory in both the states.

In the UP by-elections, Samajwadi Party is ahead in the initial trends on Karhal, Kundarki and Sisamau seats. SP was already said to be strong on both these seats. BJP or its allies are ahead in 6 out of 9 seats. Priyanka Gandhi is leading in the elections from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat of Kerala. Congress has been strong on this seat.

In the by-elections, all eyes are on Uttar Pradesh, where elections were held on 9 seats. Along with this, Lok Sabha by-elections have also been held in Nanded seats of Maharashtra and Wayanad seats of Kerala. Priyanka Gandhi has contested the elections from Wayanad. Let us tell you that along with 46 assembly seats, by-elections were also announced for two seats of Sikkim. However, both the candidates of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) were declared victorious unopposed.

NDA has lead in initial trends

Trends of Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly election results have started coming. In the initial trends, NDA seems to be taking lead in both the states. In Maharashtra, NDA is leading on 43 seats and MVA is leading on 7 seats. Whereas in Jharkhand, NDA is seen taking lead on 13 seats and INDIA on 6 seats. On the other hand, Priyanka Gandhi, who is contesting elections for the first time from Wayanad, is leading by about 700 votes.

Clash between Mahayuti and Mahavikas Aghadi in Maharashtra

The results of Maharashtra elections can be quite shocking, because this is the first election here after the split between Shiv Sena and NCP. Here there is a contest between NDA and Indi alliance. Voting was held for all 288 seats in Maharashtra on 20 November. BJP, part of the ruling grand alliance, contested 149 seats, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena contested 81 seats and Ajit Pawar-led NCP contested 59 seats. Congress, which is part of MVA, has contested 101 seats, Shiv Sena (UBT) has contested 95 seats and NCP (Sharad Pawar) has contested 86 seats. Voting took place in 2 phases on 81 assembly seats of Jharkhand. In the first phase on November 13, 66.65% voting took place on 43 seats and in the second phase on November 20, 68.45% voting took place on 38 seats. There is a contest in the state between NDA (BJP-AJSU) and India Bloc (JMM-Congress).

By-elections were held on November 20 in Meerapur, Kundarki, Sisamau, Katehari, Phulpur, Majhwan, Ghaziabad, Karhal and Khair seats of Uttar Pradesh. Although these results will not have a direct impact on the composition of the 403-member state assembly, the contest is being seen as the first major clash between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its political rivals after the Lok Sabha elections.

BJP and opposition parties have accused each other of irregularities in the elections. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party had won the 2022 assembly elections from Ghaziabad Sadar, Khair and Phulpur assembly constituencies, while BJP’s ally Nirbal Indian Shoshit Hamara Aam Dal (Nishad) had won the Majhwan region. On the other hand, Samajwadi Party had won Karhal, Kundarki, Katehari and Sisamau seats. Apart from this, one seat in Meerapur was won by Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), which was then an ally of SP. RLD is now a constituent of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance. Congress did not contest the by-election, but supported SP. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) contested all nine seats independently, while Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) fielded candidates in Ghaziabad, Kundarki and Mirapur. Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) led by Chandrashekhar Azad has also contested elections on all the seats except Sisamau.
