There is sufficient carbon in the soil of Burhanpur district. This is the reason that any crop including banana is good here. Carbon is considered the hub of crop production. At present, carbon is available at many places and up to 0.18 at some places. Bananas produced here contain sufficient amount of minerals.

– GI tag team returned to Delhi after getting information, results may come soon
Nayeduniya Representative, Burhanpur. After a long wait of nearly two years, a presentation meeting for the GI tag was held in Ujjain on Thursday. Officers of more than sixteen districts of the state were called in this meeting, but only officials of ten districts attended. Also, Dr. Laxmikant Dixit, the central government team and director of GI tag MP were present. According to sources, the scientists of Burhanpur district and officials of the horticulture department involved in the meeting stated the specialty of banana. Along with this, the officials from Dewas district described the specialty of Khurchan (Malai Mishthan) and Gulab Jamun. Apart from this, brinjal and tamarind of Narsinghpur and potatoes of Indore have also been included for GI tag. Officials of all districts gave information about the specialty, quality and elements present in them. The team from the center has left for Delhi with the facts and information that came up during the presentation. This meeting was kept completely confidential. The entry of media there was completely banned. It is being told that the result of this presentation may come soon. If the banana of Burhanpur gets GI tag, then it is possible to increase its export by manifold.
Banana production starting from the year 1960
The production of Kelle in the district started from the year 1960. For the first time, a crop was planted in five acres of field by bringing tissue culture in a bullock cart from Jalgaon. After this, other farmers gradually started harvesting. Earlier, Mosambi and orange were cultivated in the district. This district is surrounded by mountains from all around. Due to which climate is completely suitable for banana production.
Banana occurs in twenty -six thousand hectares
Banana is produced in about 26 thousand hectares in the district. More than 16 thousand farmers are active in this work. The presentation was prepared at four major points. These included the history of banana, soil quality, climate and nutrients in the district. Banana was applied in the year 2023 to provide GI tag. Now a meeting was called for GI tagging. It is noteworthy that the banana of Burhanpur has always been better in taste and quality. This is the case that its demand is with many states of the country to Gulf countries.
