New Delhi:
All the parties have given their full strength for the Delhi Assembly elections. Apart from the three major parties Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), BJP and Congress, many smaller parties are also trying their luck. MP Chandrashekhar Azad’s Azad Samaj Party has also fielded 15 candidates. Nagina MP told NDTV that it is expected that our 15 candidates will contest the elections with great strength and responsibility to take the ideology of great men to every home.
Chandrashekhar Azad said that our state team had decided that we will contest elections only where we are in a strong position. Where our party can give results or come close to the results, we are contesting the elections. He said that we would have contested elections in all 70 assembly constituencies, but we are contesting elections only on those seats for which we are prepared. We have been working here for a long time. That is why we feel that our candidates will get the blessings of the public.
He said that in Delhi there is a large population of Dalits, Backwards, Sikhs, Christians, Muslims i.e. deprived sections, but I feel that the politics of Delhi is revolving more on allegations and counter-allegations rather than issues. There are many big problems in Delhi, like the problem of raw colonies, water problem, electricity problem, roads are in very bad condition and there is also the problem of traffic jam. If you go to Delhi on any day except Sunday, you will find traffic jam everywhere. Law and order is also a failure here.
Delhi’s system should be a model for the country – Chandrashekhar
Azad Samaj Party President said that Delhi is the capital of the country, the system here should be a model for the entire country. The MPs from all over the country who are elected and come here, the world leaders come here, when they look here, they should see the picture of a developed India, but is it visible? He said what is the condition of pollution, people coming from outside have a lot of trouble in surviving here, even after 75 years of independence, there is no provision of clean drinking water here. If you haven’t been able to do this, what changes have you made?
He said that if you go to the ground and see, those who have problems will automatically expose the claims. We are trying to bring forward those issues which have not been considered as issues, you see the condition of the hospital. People come to hospitals like AIIMS and Safdarjung with great expectations because they will get good treatment, but there is no provision of even beds here.
There is a need for a positive thinking government in Delhi – Azad Samaj Party
Nagina MP said that if you are able to provide some relief in times of inflation, then it is a good thing, but by imposing that much tax, they cut their pockets. What work is the government doing on education and security? There is a need to provide scholarships in higher education. There are still many shortcomings, to overcome those shortcomings, a strong opposition and a government with positive thinking are also needed. He said that I will agree only if you provide free treatment, good education and security. If you are not doing good work in these three sectors, then what is the use. Where are you in employment, how many people did Kejriwal government give jobs in the last 5 years.
He said that if you remember the era of 80’s or 90’s, when people were not that wise about voting. Earlier people used to go by handcart to vote and give some money. Keep this money and you vote for me, Honorable Kashi Ram launched a campaign against this. He said ‘Vote is ours, rule is yours’ will not work. Today they are talking about giving Rs 2500 and Rs 2100, this is just buying votes. Earlier this was unconstitutional, it was done secretly, now it is happening openly. More than one buyer has come in the market, if you give Rs 2500, I will give Rs 3000.
Parties want to divert attention from issues – Nagina MP
Chandrashekhar Azad said that I have no hesitation in saying that Kejriwal Saheb had promised in Punjab also, then why did he not give it there. BJP makes promises everywhere. If you will give a cylinder for ₹ 500, then your government is in UP, why are you not giving it there? You have a government in Uttarakhand and Haryana, why are you not giving it there? They do this to influence the elections in their favor and to mislead them.
He said that the public is more intelligent than me and you. She will take decisions very thoughtfully to protect her interests. It is believed that the public’s decision will be towards those who have not got a chance, and not those who have tried till now and have been disappointed by them. If their agenda is related to religion, then do it, my issue is education, security, health and employment. We believe that when Azad Samaj Party moves forward, its decisions will be in the interest of the country and the Constitution.
