People were falling from footover bridge … eyewitness told the stampede at New Delhi railway station

On Saturday night, 18 people died tragically in a stampede due to huge crowd at New Delhi railway station. At the same time, dozens of people were also injured in the accident, out of which the condition of many people remains critical. Since this incident, questions are being raised on the crowd management capacity and security arrangements of the railway administration. Regarding this heartbreaking incident, an eyewitness said that the crowd had become completely uncontrollable.

Eyewitness told the story

Eyewitnesses said, thousands of people were present on the footover bridge and platform. The crowd was so much that it cannot be described. Even during festivals, I had never seen such a crowd at the railway station. Thousands of passengers arrived in Prayagraj to catch the train for bathing at Sangam. On platforms 14 and 15, the crowd became very uncontrollable and due to this, there was a shock and chaos. Many people fell from the footoverbridge and some came in front of the train. During this time the railway administration and security forces failed to control the situation.

Family of victims in resentment

After the accident, the families of the victim families have raised many questions on the administration and arrangements. The family members of the victims allege why unlimited general tickets were given when there were limited trains. Why was there not enough security system to organize such a large number of people? Why were the security arrangements not taken care of in time even after the crowd?

Railways was releasing more than 1500 tickets every hour

According to sources, more than 1500 tickets were being issued every hour to go to Prayagraj and due to this, the number of passengers at the station increased regularly. At the same time, despite the limited number of trains, the Railways issued many general tickets and due to this the crowd on the platform became uncontrollable. An eyewitness also told that the crowd on the platform had become so much that people started falling even while pushing each other. Some passengers fell in front of the engine of the train and died on the spot.

At the same time, there was so much crowd on the stairs that people kept falling on each other. Some of these passengers died due to suffocation and some due to crushing.

Who is responsible for the accident?

When the number of trains was limited, why were irregular general tickets issued by the Railways? Why were strong arrangements already made by the Railways in view of the number of passengers to know in the Mahakumbh of Prayagraj? Why were the police forces and security personnel not deployed at the station to control such a crowd? There is anger among the relatives of the deceased since this painful incident.
