These days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Kuwait. On Saturday, PM Modi also inaugurated the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait. PM Modi attended this occasion as the chief guest. Let us tell you that this is the first visit of any Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in the last 43 years. PM Modi is on a visit to Kuwait on the invitation of Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah. Along with PM Modi, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Kuwait were also present in this inauguration ceremony.

PM Modi has also posted pictures of other dignitaries present with him on the occasion of the Arabian Gulf Cup on his X handle. He has written in this post that he participated in the inaugural ceremony of the Arabian Gulf Cup. This grand event celebrates the spirit of football in the region. Let us tell you that before attending this inauguration ceremony, PM Modi had also expressed his views on the strengthening relationship between Kuwait and India. After reaching Kuwait, he had said that the relationship between India and Kuwait. Of civilizations. It is from the ocean. It is about business. India and Kuwait are situated on two sides of the Arabian Sea. We have been united not only by diplomacy but also by our hearts.
He had further said that not only our present, but also our past connects us. There was a time when pearls, dates and magnificent breed of horses used to go to India from Kuwait. And a lot of goods have been coming here from India also. Indian rice, Indian tea, Indian spices, clothes and wood used to come here. Kuwaiti sailors used to make long journeys in boats made of Indian teak wood. Kuwait’s pearls have been no less than diamonds for India.
PM Modi further said that today India’s jewelery is famous all over the world, so Kuwait’s pearls also have a contribution in it. In Gujarat, we have been hearing from elders that in the past centuries, people and businessmen used to come and go from Kuwait. Especially in the nineteenth century, traders from Kuwait started coming to Surat. At that time Surat used to be the international market for the pearls of Kuwait. Be it Surat, Porbandar, Veraval, the ports of Gujarat are witnesses of these old relations.
