PM Modi inaugurated ‘Arabian Gulf Cup’ as the chief guest, said – Thank you for inviting me

These days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Kuwait. On Saturday, PM Modi also inaugurated the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait. PM Modi attended this occasion as the chief guest. Let us tell you that this is the first visit of any Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in the last 43 years. PM Modi is on a visit to Kuwait on the invitation of Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah. Along with PM Modi, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Kuwait were also present in this inauguration ceremony.

PM Modi has also posted pictures of other dignitaries present with him on the occasion of the Arabian Gulf Cup on his X handle. He has written in this post that he participated in the inaugural ceremony of the Arabian Gulf Cup. This grand event celebrates the spirit of football in the region. I thank His Highness Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, for inviting me to this event.

PM Modi further said that today India’s jewelery is famous all over the world, so Kuwait’s pearls also have a contribution in it. Especially in the nineteenth century, traders from Kuwait started coming to Surat. At that time Surat used to be the international market for the pearls of Kuwait. Be it Surat, Porbandar, Veraval, the ports of Gujarat are witnesses of these old relations.
