New Delhi:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said he is looking forward to “meaningful” discussions at the upcoming G-20 summit in Brazil. This conference is based on the agenda of the group decided under the chairmanship of India last year. PM Modi said this in a statement before his five-day visit to Nigeria, Brazil and Guyana.
Prime Minister Modi will first go to Nigeria and then from there to Brazil. PM Modi said, “I will participate in the 19th G-20 summit in Brazil as a member of the Troika. India’s successful presidency last year made the G-20 the people’s G-20 and the Global South.” Priorities were included in its agenda.”
Apart from PM Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden will also participate in the summit to be held in Rio de Janeiro on November 18 and 19. India is part of the G-20 triumvirate along with Brazil and South Africa.
PM Modi will also hold discussions to increase bilateral cooperation
PM Modi said, “This year, Brazil has carried forward India’s legacy. I look forward to meaningful discussions keeping in mind our vision of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’. I look forward to using this opportunity to share many “I will also meet with other leaders to exchange views on furthering bilateral cooperation.”
The inclusion of the 55-nation African Union as a permanent member of the G20 and the drafting of a leaders’ declaration overcoming deep differences on the Ukraine conflict were seen as major milestones of India’s chairmanship of the G20 last year. .
Regarding the visit to Nigeria, PM Modi said that it would be “an opportunity to take forward our strategic partnership based on shared belief in democracy and pluralism.”
Prime Minister visiting Nigeria for the first time
PM Modi will visit Nigeria on a two-day visit on November 16-17 at the invitation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. PM Modi said that this will be my first visit to Nigeria. Nigeria is our close partner in the West African region. He said, “I am also looking forward to meeting the Indian community and friends from Nigeria, who have sent me warm welcome messages in Hindi.”
In the third and final leg of his visit, PM Modi will visit Guyana from November 19 to 21 at the invitation of President Mohammad Irfan Ali.
This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana in more than 50 years. PM Modi said, “We will exchange ideas to give strategic direction to our unique relationship, which is based on shared heritage, culture and values.”
“I will also pay my respects to one of the oldest Indian migrant communities, who arrived there more than 185 years ago,” he said. I will join their democracy by addressing their Parliament.
