Before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting from November 22, the war of words continues between Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir and former Australian captain Ricky Ponting. Now Ponting has been called ‘hot-tempered’. Not only this, they laughed off Gambhir’s statement.

After the Indian coach’s statement on Monday, November 11, the former Australia captain laughingly told News-7 – ‘I was surprised to read the reaction, but I know coach Gautam Gambhir. He has a prickly character. So I was not too surprised that he said something.

Two days ago, Gautam Gambhir, while defending Kohli, had said that Ponting should focus on Australian cricket, what does he have to do with Indian cricket. Earlier, Ponting had expressed concern over Virat Kohli’s form.

Said- If they come to me, I will shake hands When the anchor asked Ponting if he met Gambhir, would he shake his hand, Ponting jokingly said, ‘If he comes to me, then yes. He also clarified his statement and said- I was not sarcasm. Here Ponting clarified his old statement on Kohli. He said- ‘This was not a sarcasm on him (Kohli) in any way. I actually remember him saying that he has done well in Australia and he would be excited to come back here…If you ask Virat, I am sure he will be a little worried that he will not be able to score centuries like in previous years. Couldn’t make it.

Ponting had said on the recent statement – ‘Kohli’s form is a matter of concern, because in the last 5 years this Indian batsman has been able to score only two centuries in Test cricket. He also said that this star batsman is capable of making a comeback and there can be no better place than Australia for this.

Gambhir had said- What does Ponting have to do with Indian cricket? Gambhir had said before the Indian team left for Australia tour – ‘What does Ponting have to do with Indian cricket?
