Based on the data available on the Meteorological Department’s website from 2009 to 2024, a total of 42.8 mm rainfall occurred in December, which is the highest rainfall in this month in the last 15 years. Meanwhile, the highest rainfall ever recorded in December was in the year 1884, when the city received 134.4 mm of rainfall.

Chances of rain in these states even today

There are chances of rain in many states including Delhi-NCR even today. The Meteorological Department said that there will be dark clouds in the sky in Delhi-NCR, Western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab today. There will be light rain during the day. The average minimum temperature in Delhi-NCR today is likely to be 9 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is likely to be 18 degrees Celsius.

There will be dense fog in Delhi tomorrow

According to the Meteorological Department, there will be dense fog in the morning and evening in Delhi-NCR. The weather will remain clear after noon. There will be bright sunshine during the day. It will be colder on Sunday than on Saturday. On Sunday, the average minimum temperature of Delhi can be recorded at 8 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature can be recorded at 19 degrees Celsius.

Weather will worsen in the new year

According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of rain again in Delhi-NCR after the New Year i.e. January 1. It will be cloudy in Delhi-NCR on January 2 (Thursday). Light drizzle may also occur during this period.

At the same time, today the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) late night has predicted moderate to heavy rain at many places in Delhi (Palam, Safdarjung, Lodi Road, IGI Airport, Mehrauli, Chhatarpur, Ayanagar, Deramandi), NCR (Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar). There was a possibility of lightning strike.

Along with light rain, snowfall is also occurring in Himachal, Kashmir and Uttarakhand. A large number of tourists have reached the mountains. All the tourists are enjoying snowfall in Himachal in December.

The Meteorological Department wrote on Friday night, ‘Yamunanagar, Jhajjar, Farrukhnagar, Hodal of Haryana, Saharanpur of Uttar Pradesh, Gangoh, Deoband, Muzaffarnagar, Sakoti Tanda, Baraut, Daurala, Baghpat, Meerut, Modinagar, Kithore, Nandgaon, Rajasthan. There was a possibility of rain in Tijara, Alwar and Delhi-NCR around 4 am.

There is rain alert in Haryana for the second day. It started raining in many places including Panipat since morning. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert in Karnal, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Panchkula.

Clouds rained in Haryana and Punjab also

At the same time, it rained at many places in Punjab and Haryana on Friday, due to which the day temperature dropped drastically at both the places. Chandigarh, which was affected by hailstorm, recorded a maximum temperature of 15.9 degrees Celsius, which is eight degrees below normal for this season.

Temperature dropped due to rain

According to the Meteorological Department, it rained in Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Pathankot in Punjab. The maximum temperatures recorded at these places were 13.7, 14.8, 14.6 and 15.2 degrees Celsius. It also rained in Ambala, Hisar, Karnal, Rohtak, Sirsa and Gurugram of Haryana, where maximum temperatures were recorded at 14.8, 14.5, 13.4, 15.2 and 15 degrees Celsius.
