The police clearly said that this group does not belong to farmers. You are not a farmer. You are the wrong man. This was the same language which the ministers of the Modi government at the Center have been using for farmers for a long time. The name of former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar is also included in this.
The government of the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to crush the farmers’ movement with the help of force. This was once again confirmed today at Shambhu Border when the country’s food providers were made fun of. The police of the BJP government was saying to the group of 101 farmers who had set out to march to Delhi on foot that this group was not of farmers. You are not a farmer. You are the wrong man. This is the same language which senior ministers of the Center have been speaking for a long time. It was obvious that the words of BJP were coming out from the mouth of Haryana Police. Tear gas shells and pepper spray were also fired on the farmers. Even in the chilly weather filled with drizzle and cold winds, cold water showers were given on the Annadata. About half a dozen farmers were injured in this, in which one farmer had to be referred to PGI.
The second batch of 101 farmers was to leave for Delhi on foot on December 8 i.e. Sunday, in the Farmers Movement-2, which has completed almost 300 days on the Haryana-Punjab border with the main demand of minimum support price for crops and debt relief. Earlier on December 6, the first batch of 101 farmers had left for Delhi march, but were called back due to conflict with the police and not getting permission from the government. Today again the preparations of the central and state security forces to stop the farmers were the same as on 6 December. The meaning was clear, the signal from Delhi is clear.
But no one was able to understand that even if 101 farmers went on foot, how could they be a threat to such a powerful government of Delhi. How can these handful of farmers, who want to go to the capital of their country while chanting Wahe Guru peacefully, create law and order problems for the state and central government. That too when the group included mostly elderly farmers. At 12 noon on Sunday afternoon, a group of 101 farmers, chanting Satnam Wahe Guru, came out of their camp located on the Shambhu border and folded their hands and requested to be allowed to go to Delhi as soon as they reached the permanent police front situated in the middle of the Ghaggar river. The most shameful thing was that the police made fun of Annadata.
It was clear that the police had come up with a new strategy. Instructions will also be from above. The police clearly said that this group does not belong to farmers. You are not a farmer. You are the wrong man. This was the same language which the central ministers of PM Narendra Modi government have been using for farmers for a long time. This also includes former Haryana CM and current Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. He has said not once but many times that he is someone else in the guise of a farmer. He has even said that he wants to go to Delhi as if it is the army of an enemy country.
The police was also doing the same thing today. Not only this, the way the police wanted to use the media was also revealing the helplessness of the so-called fourth pillar of democracy. The condition of the media was also confirming that it was reaching the abyss. When the farmer group reached the police, it first seemed that the police system was probably going to behave with a human face today. The police was offering tea and water to the farmers, but perhaps this was not its real face.
The farmer leaders had already provided the list of farmers going to Delhi in the group to the police. Despite this, the police wanted to verify the names of the farmers. The police was saying to reveal your identity first. Then we will send it up. After that it will be decided what to do next. On this the farmers said that the list of farmers included in the group has already been given to the police. The complete identity of the farmers has been disclosed. Then what are they trying to identify now? Lakhs of people are going to Delhi every day by trains and buses, so are the police letting them go after checking their identity cards?
The police were asking the media to stay away from the farmers. A day before this, the police had told the media through a letter to stay 1 kilometer away from the farmers. Perhaps this was part of the police’s strategy after the government was embarrassed by the police brutality at the Shambhu border with the farmers who had set out to march to Delhi on 6 December. With this she wanted to isolate the farmers. When this did not happen, the police came into its true form. The amazing thing was that on one side the police was offering tea and water to the farmers and media and on the other side they were firing chilli spray and tear gas shells. Due to the opposite wind direction, a large number of media people along with the farmers became victims of tear gas.
The police was saying that this is the border of Haryana-Punjab. There is no India-Pakistan border. On this the farmers were saying that we are also saying that the government has made it the border of India-Pakistan. Delhi is the capital of our country. Then why are we being stopped from going? Then the police started saying that now you are in the border of Haryana. If you want to come to Haryana then first tell your identity. The police was asking the farmers to stand in line for this. The surprising thing is that the police was asking the media to ask them to reveal their identity. But the farmers understood the intentions of the police very well. He said that the purpose of the police is only to make excuses. In between, farmers were raising slogans like Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan and will take MSP.
Surprisingly, the police was instructing the media to cover it as if the media was its subordinate department. She was even telling the farmers who were bringing wet sacks to protect themselves from tear gas shells that they were hiding weapons. Media should cover it. The police made fun of the farmers so much that it was beyond imagination. Sometimes she would start playing Guruvani and say, come and chant the name of God for a while. The next moment they started firing pepper spray and tear gas shells. There was a scene where the police suddenly started showering flowers on the farmers, but the flowers were not finished and they started showering tear gas shells. He also showered cold water on the farmers amidst drizzle and cold winds. He did not even take care of the cold environment in the middle of Ghagdhar river.
The limit was reached when he did not know how to use the word respect for an elderly farmer injured by tear gas shells. The police were asking whether he had come here to be martyred. When the media asked questions, the police was saying that it is not the job of the media to answer questions. Perhaps she was showing a mirror to the media by saying that this is your status left today. In the end, after about four and a quarter hours of struggle, the farmers’ march to Delhi on foot was postponed. Farmers will now announce their next strategy by meeting on December 9.
