For air passengers, Delhi Airport has created special enclosures to accommodate passengers deboarding from flights delayed by more than three hours, so that they can quickly return to the terminal to board their respective flights. According to PTI news, Delhi Airport Operator (DIAL) says that in order to reduce the inconvenience and waiting time for such passengers to re-board their respective flights, they will not need to go through the normal process for security check. Will have to. The process will be done separately to allow them to return to the Security Hold Area (SHA).
Relaxation in security protocols
According to the news, the government has relaxed security protocols at airports to allow passengers of flights delayed or canceled by more than three hours due to fog, weather or technical problems to disembark and return to the terminal. Following the eased norms, DIAL on Monday said it has created special enclosures at all three terminals – T1, T2 and T3 – for such passengers, which will allow them to return inside the respective terminal.
55 to 120 passengers will be able to sit in the circle at one time.
Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has said that 55 to 120 passengers will be able to sit at a time in these circles of 250 to 450 square meters. This will simplify security checks, allowing passengers to easily enter the security hold area of the terminal. These enclosures will be located at bus boarding gates and some aerobridges in T3, transfer areas in T2 and bus boarding gates in T1. It will be available to both domestic and international passengers. According to DIAL, the new arrangement will save passengers from having to go through security checks through the normal process wherein, after disembarking, passengers are taken to arrivals and through domestic or international transfer areas before being brought back to the security hold area. The process is done. By bringing such passengers directly to the reverse entry point, the time taken for deboarding and boarding is significantly reduced – from about 2.30 hours to a few minutes.
Necessary facilities will also be available
Work is also being done to provide essential facilities like toilets and vending machines inside the enclosures. The enclosures will be used only as a security processing area, after which passengers will enter the security hold area, giving passengers access to all the facilities available there. For security reasons only airline staff carrying passengers from stranded aircraft will be allowed to enter the enclosures. CISF personnel will be deployed at the enclosures to screen passengers returning from delayed or stranded flights, before they are allowed to proceed with other screened passengers to the security hold area.
