The life of Dr. Manmohan Singh is an inspiring story of struggle and success. He was born on 26 September 1932 in Gah village of Punjab province of British India, now located in Chakwal (earlier Jhelum) district of Pakistan. Born in an ordinary family, Manmohan Singh was fondly called ‘Mohana’ by his friends and family members. He was serious and hardworking towards studies since childhood. His father Gurmukh Singh was a cloth merchant and mother Amrit Kaur was a housewife.
Dr. Singh started his primary education from the primary school of Gah village. While studying by the light of kerosene lamp, he imbibed the teachings of his teacher Daulat Ram and headmaster Abdul Karim. His childhood friends Shah Wali and Ghulam Mohammad Khan say that Mohana was a topper in studies and always helped others. Shah Wali had told in an interview that Mohana was the class monitor and was a favorite of the teachers. After studying till fourth class, his family moved to Chakwal. At the time of partition, his family came to India and settled in Amritsar.

Dr. Singh always contributed to the development of his native village Gah. He was also connected with his friends, even though he never returned to his village. He met his old friend meeting in delhi Also did. In fact, on his invitation, his old friend Raja Mohammad Ali of Gah village had come to Delhi in 2008, when he was the Prime Minister. Raja Ali gifted Chakwal’s famous shoes, shawl, soil and water to Dr. Singh. In return, Dr. Singh gifted him a turban, shawl and a watch. Raja Ali died in the year 2010.
Raja Mohammad Ali remembering that meeting told It was said that Dr. Singh’s nature was polite and affectionate. During the meeting he shared many memories of his childhood. He had also accepted an invitation to visit his native village in Pakistan. Describing this meeting, Raja Ali had said that Mohana was very worried about her village. After this meeting, he appealed to the then President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf for the development of Gah village. talk of. He said that the village should be developed as a model village.
Dr. Manmohan Singh’s other friends in Gah village were waiting for him to visit Pakistan and meet them because he had accepted the invitation to visit Pakistan, but due to some reason he could not go. Journalist Daniel Kublai Khan wrote in Pick Magazine in 2012 that the people of Gah village see Mohana as a family member. Village resident Mohammad Ashraf told how Mohana gave priority to education and hard work in her life.
