The Supreme Court said on Tuesday, ‘State governments have failed to ensure affordable medical and infrastructure. This is promoting private hospitals. To prevent this, the central government should build a guideline.

In fact, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court, stating that patients and their families in private hospitals are forced to buy expensive medicines and medical equipment from the hospital’s pharmacy. Therefore, such hospitals should be tightened. The Central and State Governments should be ordered to prevent this.

The bench of Justices Suryakant and NK Singh heard it. The Center in its reply said that patients are not forced to buy medicines from the hospital pharmacy. On this, the court said that it is necessary that the state governments should provide medicines and medical services in their hospitals at cheaper prices so that patients are not exploited.

Justice Suryakant asked- how to control it? Justice Suryakant said, ‘We agree with the petitioner, but how to control it? The court asked the state governments to control private hospitals, which forces patients to buy medicines from hospital shops. Especially those medicines that are getting cheaply cheaply.

The court asked the central government to make guidelines, so that private hospitals could not exploit the common people.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had sent a notice to all the states in this case. Several states including Orissa, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan had filed answers. On the issue of medicines prices, states said that they are dependent on the price control order of the central government. The central government decides which medicine will cost.
