IPL 2025 Mega Auction: The auction process for the 18th season of IPL has started. During the bidding for players in Jeddah, there were some players on whom everyone was stunned to see the money showered upon them. Especially people are surprised at the amount of all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer who is out of Team India. KKR team has included him again in their fleet with a huge amount of Rs 23 crore and 75 lakh. However, why did the franchise buy Iyer again for such a huge amount? The reason behind this has been given by KKR CEO Venky Mysore. Venkatesh Iyer (Kolkata Knight Riders)
The first name in the special list is that of Venkatesh Iyer. Spending huge sums of Rs 23 crore and Rs 75 lakh on Venkatesh appears to be a very expensive deal. Iyer has been trying hard to make a comeback in Team India for the last two and a half years, but has not been successful till now. Apart from this, if we talk about his IPL career, he has played 50 matches so far in the country’s prestigious league. Meanwhile, 1326 runs have been scored from his bat in 49 innings at an average of 31.57. Here his strike rate is 137.13, which cannot be said to be anything special.
Talking about his bowling performance, he has bowled only nine innings of IPL. Meanwhile, he has taken only three wickets at an average of 47.67. Not only this, he has spent runs here at an economy of 10.59, which shows how expensive a bowler he proves to be.
Yuzvendra Chahal (Punjab Kings)
Admittedly, Yuzvendra Chahal is an experienced and promising spinner, but the amount of Rs 18 crore is quite high. Many big all-rounders would have been available for such a huge amount. Well, the franchise must have included him in its fleet after some thinking. Punjab has bought Chahal for a huge amount of Rs 18 crore for the upcoming season. Till now he has played a total of 160 matches in the prestigious league of the country. Meanwhile, he has got 205 successes in 159 innings at an average of 22.45. In the IPL, he has spent runs at an economy of 7.84, which shows that he has proved to be decently expensive.
Arshdeep Singh (Punjab Kings)
Predictions were already being made about Arshdeep Singh that he could prove to be very expensive in the IPL auction, but no one had thought that a bid of Rs 18 crore would be made for him. For the upcoming season, Punjab Kings team has again included him in their fleet using RTM card with a huge amount of Rs 18 crores.
Arshdeep Singh has played a total of 65 matches in IPL so far. Meanwhile, he has taken 76 wickets in 65 innings at an average of 27.0. During this period, he has spent runs at an economy of 9.03, which shows how expensive he proves to be.
Noor Ahmed (Chennai Super Kings)
CSK team has spent a total of Rs 10 crore for Afghanistan cricket team’s young spinner Noor Ahmed. Buying Noor for such a huge amount seems beyond comprehension. Noor has played a total of 23 matches in IPL so far. Meanwhile, he has achieved 24 successes in 23 innings at an average of 27.46. In IPL, he has spent runs with an economy of 8.04. Apart from this, many flaws were seen in him during fielding last year.
Mitchell Starc (Delhi Capitals)
