The news of 337 tonnes of garbage kept in Union Carbide Company premises, Bhopal, being filled in more than 12 containers and reaching Pithampur by late night has spread rapidly. After the garbage arrives, two tonnes of it has to be burnt every day. The incinerator in the company has been prepared to burn garbage.

Thus, this process can continue for several months, which will be a challenge for the police and administration. In 2010, the issue of bringing the generated waste to Pithampur for burning gained a lot of attention and the then Union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh himself reached Ramki Company located in Pithampur, but at that time the whole matter was put on hold.

During this, Municipal President Sevanti Suresh Patel, BJP councilor Ashok Patel, Councilor representative Vijay Raghuvanshi, Advocate Rajesh Chaudhary, former councilor Hemant Patel, Dr. Hemant Herole of Pithampur Bachao Samiti, Salim Sheikh of Indian Human Rights Council organization, former councilor Vipul Patel, Vikas A large number of residents and school students including Patel also participated. However, amidst the protests, there was a strong discussion that Bhopal’s waste was being brought to Pithampur on Sunday night itself.

Municipal Corporation Vice President Pappu Asoliya, Councilor Manisha Lalu Sharma also participated in the rally wearing black bands on their hands. Municipal President Sevanti Suresh Patel and Vice President Pappu Asoliya said that garbage should not be burnt in Pithampur. In the general meeting of the municipality, a resolution was unanimously passed and told that the toxic waste should be burnt elsewhere.
