Writer from Delhi reached Gurugram’s Cafe Coffee Day to drink coffee, told such an experience, you will think before going next time

Manoj Arora, a writer from New Delhi, shared his “disappointing” experience at a Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) outlet in Gurugram. His post, which has since gone viral on X, details the disappointing service he received while trying to enjoy a coffee and work on his book.

Arora had gone to the cafe on November 24 while waiting for his daughter’s CAT exam to be completed. As soon as he entered, he smelled a bad smell, but despite this he decided to stay. The experience was made worse when he ordered a small cappucino but was informed that the staff can only serve large coffee in takeaway cups. The utensils were not washed, so coffee in ceramic cups was refused, and even an Americano could not be served for the same reason.

Arora said, “Today I have come to Gurgaon to drop my daughter for CAT exam. I had 2 hours, so I thought of relaxing with coffee and continuing writing my upcoming book. Went down to CCD outlet, which was about 5 minutes drive from CAT Centre. As soon as I entered it, there was a smell of fungus everywhere. I did not make any complaint.

He further said, “I asked for a small cappucino. The staff said they couldn’t serve small cappucinos because they only had large sized cups. But I didn’t want to get the big one. I said, I don’t want to carry any luggage, I will take it here. Please give me a ceramic cup. The staff explained that they could not provide ceramic cups because there was no water and they were dirty. I said then let it go.

After several attempts to find an alternative, Arora reluctantly spent the extra Rs 100 and bought a large cappuccino.

He said, “If your cup is dirty, give me an Americano.” The staff again clarified that the glasses were also dirty, so this was also not possible. In a last ditch effort, I asked, can you give me my small or medium cappucino in your large cup. He refused saying that the cups are counted. Frustrated, I asked, ‘What can you give me?’ ‘We can only give you large coffees and that too only for takeaway.’

Upset, he concluded his post by tagging CCD, saying: “CCD is dying!” In his post, Arora also shared a picture of the bill as well as the cup of coffee he drank at the outlet. Soon after, Cafe Coffee Day responded to Manoj’s now-viral post, saying: “Hey Manoj, this is completely unacceptable. We take all measures to ensure that you have a good experience. Please share your contact number via DM so that our team can check and connect with you.

Let us tell you that IT executive turned author Manoj Arora has written books like From the Rat Race to Financial Freedom and Happiness Unlimited.
