The Judicial Commission will submit its report to the state government within a month. In this regard, the Chief Secretary and DGP will visit Prayagraj themselves.

Yogi said- The incident of stampede in Mahakumbh is heartbreaking.

Yogi said- The incident occurred due to the breaking of barricading of the crowd

Yogi said that 36 injured are being treated in Prayagraj’s hospital. The incident of stampede occurred because the mob broke the barricading of the Akhara Marg. Police, NDRF and rescue teams sent the injured to the hospital. The administration was promptly engaged in opening all closed routes.

A large number of devotees gathered in Prayagraj from 7 pm yesterday to take a holy bath on Mauni Amavasya. An unfortunate incident occurred on the Akhara road. In which more than 90 people were injured and 30 people died. We had made adequate arrangements for the arrival of so many devotees. It will be investigated separately from the level of police.

The Muhurta on Mauni Amavasya was from 4 am. On the request of the administration, the akhadas postponed the Amrit bath.

Devotees were stopped by making hoardings in Mirzapur, Bhadohi and Jaunpur districts. Devotees are being released after bathing all the akharas. 2 possible reasons for stampede

  • Most of the pantoon bridges were closed due to Amrit bath. Due to this, a crowd of millions gathered at the Sangam. During this time some people fell into barricades. Seeing this, there was a stampede.
  • Entry and exit on Sangam Noj were not different. People were going back from the path they were coming. In such a situation, when there was a stampede, there was no chance to run away. They fell on each other.
