India had to suffer a big defeat of 184 runs in the Melbourne Test. Team India has lagged 1-2 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. On Monday, the 5th day of the match, Australia had given a target of 340 runs by scoring 234 runs in the second innings, but the Indian team was all out for 155 runs.
Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored the highest score of 84 runs, but he became the victim of a controversial decision by the third umpire. This became the biggest reason for India’s defeat. When Jaiswal was out, the match was in a draw. Akash Deep was supporting him. Apart from the decision, the Indian team lost 7 wickets in the last session. India’s score till tea break was 112/3.

1. Top order flop, Rohit-Virat failed Team India’s top order was a complete flop in this match. In the first innings, there was only 8 runs partnership for the first wicket between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma. Rohit was out after scoring 3 runs. KL Rahul scored 24 and Virat Kohli scored 36 runs.
In the second innings, apart from Yashasvi, the first three batsmen Rohit Sharma (9), KL Rahul (0) and Virat Kohli (5) could not reach double figures. Rohit-Virat failed in this match also. Rohit scored 3 runs in the first innings and 9 runs in the second. Whereas Kohli scored 36 runs in the first innings and 5 runs in the second.
2. Yashasvi dropped 3 catches

On the second ball of Akash Deep’s over, Yashasvi missed his catch in the gully. Marnus Labuschagne got a lease of life in the 40th over. He also got caught by Yashasvi at gully on the ball of Akash Deep.
Yashasvi’s third catch of the innings was dropped in the 49th over. This time he dropped the catch of Pat Cummins. Tried to stop Ravindra Jadeja’s fuller length ball, which went to Yashasvi Jaiswal standing at silly mid-off, but Jaiswal could not take the low-catch.
