D Gukesh won the third match of the World Chess Championship: Defeated defending champion Liren for the first time in the final, came on par.

Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh has made a comeback in the FIDE World Chess Championship. 18-year-old Gukesh defeated current champion Ding Liren in ‘time control’ in the third match on Wednesday. Gukesh has registered his first victory over a Chinese player in the World Championship match. After this victory the score is equal to 1.5-1.5. There will be rest day on Thursday.

The FIDE World Chess Championship 2024 continues in Singapore. 14 games will be played in this. It will run till December 12. If necessary, a tiebreaker match will be played, which will take place on December 13. This is the first time in the history of the World Chess Championship that two Asian players are facing each other to become the world champion.

The final of the FIDE World Championship continues between D Gukesh of India and Ding Liren of China.

Gukesh has returned to the finals by winning the third match.

Ding Liren won the first match. Whereas the second match ended in a draw.

Gukesh won in 37 moves, Liren could not control time Gukesh won in 37 moves. Liren had to suffer the consequences of wasting a lot of time in the first leg of the match. Gukesh played the third round with white pieces. By the 13th move, Gukesh had a lead of one hour and had spent only four minutes.

Liren had spent an hour and six minutes on the other side. There is no time extension for 40 moves in the first 120 minutes of the game. Liren was affected by the complexity of the match in the middle and Gukesh increased the pressure on him with perfect moves.

Gukesh adopted Kramnik’s strategy Gukesh adopted a gradual strategy. This strategy was adopted by former world champion Vladimir Erigesy Kramnik of Russia against Arjun Erigesy of India in a rapid match. Erigesi had drawn that match. Gukesh won by taking advantage of Liren’s simple mistakes. Liren had just two minutes left for the last nine moves and just ten seconds left for the last six moves. In the end he had no time left.

Who is D Gukesh? D Gukesh’s full name is Domaraju Gukesh and he is a resident of Chennai. Gukesh was born on 7 May 2006 in Chennai. He started playing chess at the age of 7. He was initially coached by Bhaskar Nagaiah.

Nagaiah has been an international level chess player and is a home chess tutor in Chennai. After this, Vishwanathan Anand gave coaching to Gukesh along with giving him information about the game. Gukesh’s father is a doctor and mother is a microbiologist by profession.
