In the Bitcoin scam case, ED on Wednesday raided the premises of Gaurav Mehta in Raipur. The audio and screenshot of Gaurav Gupta’s conversation with NCP leader Supriya Sule and Congress leader Nana Patole is also going viral. BJP has shared its audio and screenshot. 40 FIRs have been registered regarding this scam in Maharashtra and Punjab. The investigation in this case was started in 2018. According to the information, Amit Bhardwaj was the mastermind of this case. He cheated people by asking them to invest in Bitcoin, after which investors lost money. Bhardwaj had fled to Dubai after the scam, after which he was deported from there. Police of many states have registered cases against Bhardwaj.
Amit Bhardwaj died of a heart attack in January 2022. Simpi Bhardwaj is the sister-in-law of Amit Bhardwaj and wife of Ajay Bhardwaj. ED has also filed a charge sheet against Amit Bhardwaj and his family in the court in 2024. The allegation was that Amit used to get people to invest in Bitcoin in the name of multi-level marketing through his company Variable Tech Private Limited.
On this side, in 2017, his company had collected bitcoins worth Rs 6600 crore. In 2018, IPS Ravindranath Patil was added to investigate this fraud in Maharashtra and in the year 2022, he himself was arrested in the same scam. It is alleged that Bitcoins have also been made missing in this cryptocurrency cyber fraud. Later in 2018, it was revealed that crores of bitcoins were found in the cryptocurrency wallet. These bitcoins worth crores of rupees were seized by two IPS officers Bhagyashree and Amitabh Gupta and kept a fake wallet in which there was no money.
Gaurav Mehta had testified when Ravindranath went to jail. Gaurav has played an important role in this case. He told that Gaurav Mehta told Ravindra Nath Patil on phone that he was framed by Amitabh Gupta and Bhagyashree. They have the real violet of Bitcoin and there is a layer above them in which there are leaders. Along with Supriya Sule, Nan Patole is also included in it. Audio clippings were sent through Signal as proof and this money was used in elections in 2019 and 2024.
