Regarding the plan to draft the Uniform Civil Code in the state, the Chief Minister said that when the 75th anniversary of independence is being celebrated under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the Prime Minister said the same to ensure equal rights for all the citizens of the country. Civil Code is proposed. It has been decided to implement it across the country. The BJP government does what it says. Promises made on one nation one election, Article 370, triple talaq law etc. have been fulfilled one after the other.

It has now been resolved to implement the Uniform Civil Code. Gujarat is always committed to fulfill its resolve. It is moving towards ensuring equal rights and privileges for all citizens living in the state. For this, a committee will be constituted under the chairmanship of retired Supreme Court Judge Smt. Ranjana Desai, which will investigate the need for the Uniform Civil Code in Gujarat and draf the law. This five -member committee also consists of a senior retired IAS officer. CL Meena, RC Kodekar, Dakshresh Thakar, Geetaben Shroff are included. This committee will study all aspects and submit a report to the state government within 45 days. Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai Justice Ranjana Desai is a former judge of the Supreme Court. She was a judge in the Supreme Court from 13 September 2011 to 29 October 2014. Ranjana Desai graduated in 1970 from Elphinstone College, Mumbai and then passed the Law Bachelor (BA LLB) examination from Government Law College, Mumbai in 1973. Justice Ranjana Desai has also been the chairman of the delimitation commission on Jammu and Kashmir. Desai has also been a judge of the Bombay High Court before coming to the Supreme Court.
