Tirupati accident- Crowd of 4000 in 91 counters: Woman standing in line unconscious, gate opened; Stampede upon entry; 6 died

There was a stampede near the Vaikuntha Dwar Darshan ticket counter at Sri Tirupati Temple in Andhra Pradesh late on Wednesday night at 9:30 pm. In the accident, 6 people including a woman died and 40 people were injured.

Actually, tickets were being distributed for the 10-day special Vaikuntha Dwara Darshanam starting from Friday. The temple committee had opened 91 counters. In which there was a crowd of about 4 thousand.

Meanwhile, a woman standing in the queue fainted. He was taken out by opening the gate for treatment. During this time people started entering inside. A stampede-like situation was created. In which the sick woman also died.

About four thousand people were standing in line near Vaikuntha Ekadashi and Vaikuntha Dwar.

After the scuffle, TTD workers could not control the situation.

The gate where the accident took place was to be opened on January 10. A day earlier on Tuesday, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Executive Officer J Shyamala Rao had said that the Vaikuntha gates were to be opened for darshan on Vaikuntha Ekadashi from January 10 to 19. Protocol darshan will start from 4.30 am, after that Sarva darshan will start from 8 am. For this, people were standing in line to get the token. Around 7 lakh devotees are likely to come in these 10 days.

Tirupati India’s most famous and richest temple Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams is one of the most famous and richest pilgrimage centers in the world. It is situated on Seshachalam mountain of Andhra Pradesh. This temple of Lord Venkateswara was built by King Tondaman. The temple was consecrated by Ramanujacharya in the 11th century.

It is believed that when Lord Venkateswara was planning his marriage with Padmavati, he took a loan from Kuber, the god of wealth. God still owes that loan and devotees donate to help him pay the interest on it. Tirumala temple receives about one tonne of gold in donations every year.

The famous Laddu here is given as Prasad to all the devotees who visit Tirupati. About 3 lakh laddus are made here every day. Laddu is made from gram flour, butter, sugar, cashew nuts, raisins and cardamom and its recipe is about 300 years old.

It is said that Shri Ramanujacharya ji lived for about one hundred and fifty years and served Lord Vishnu all his life, as a result of which it was here that the Lord appeared to him in person.
