Udan Yatri Cafe starts at Kolkata Airport: Tea for ₹ 10 and coffee-samosa for ₹ 20; AAP MP Raghav Chadha had suggested in Parliament

In this cafe opened at Kolkata Airport, food items will be available at low prices. The government will also open such cafes at other airports in the country.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has started ‘Udan Yatri Café’ at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata. This is the first cafe to sell cheap food at the airport.

Here water bottle and tea will be available for Rs 10. Whereas samosa, coffee and sweets will be available for Rs 20.

Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha took part in the discussion on the Indian Aviation Bill 2024 in the winter session of Parliament. During this, he had questioned the government regarding the expensive selling of food items at the airport.

He had said- At the airport, water bottles start at Rs 100 and food items start at Rs 200. Can the government make an airport canteen, where food can be available at low cost? After this this cafe was started at Kolkata Airport.

Chadha said- happy to see the change After the cafe opened, Rajya Sabha MP Chadha wrote on his X handle – Glad to see the change! After raising this issue in the winter session, the price of tea has been reduced at Kolkata Airport. This is the victory of the common people. These cafes should be opened at other airports also.

Dainik Bhaskar talked to Kolkata Airport’s Joint General Manager Deepak Kumar about this. He told that Kolkata Airport is celebrating its 100th anniversary. On this occasion, it was decided to open this cafe in Kolkata. At present, it has not been decided at which airport the next cafe will be opened, but cafes will be opened at all the airports of the country.

Kumar told that currently there are 5 things in this cafe – water, tea, coffee, samosa and gulab jamun. Most of the passengers buy tea and samosa. People of every age group are coming to this cafe. 700-800 people are coming to the cafe every day.

Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu said after the launch of the café – It is my mission to make air travel cheap and comfortable.

Gulab jamuns and samosas will also be sold in the café.

Kolkata Airport has completed 100 years this year. Union Minister Rammohan Naidu released a commemorative stamp, a coin and memento to commemorate the occasion. Also a coffee table book was launched.
