In fact, under the Smart City Project, Speed Violation Detection (SVD) system is being installed on 25 routes of the city and high-tech cameras are being installed at 25 entry-exit points. With this project, while the e-challan will be sent directly to the mobile phones of the drivers driving at high speed, a database will also be prepared by recording the registration numbers of the vehicles coming and going through the entry and exit routes of the city.
SVD system installed
Initially, SVD system has been installed on 17 routes in the city, which will be started in the coming month. Smart City Project CEO Divyank Singh said that this work is being done under the Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) project.
The company will look after the maintenance for five years
The cost is around Rs 21 crore. Only the company that installs the cameras will take care of its maintenance for five years. The entire project will be monitored from a single control room. SVD will begin in early February. While ITMS will improve the traffic system, it will also reduce road accidents caused by overspeeding.
SVD system will work like this
Smart City is installing SVD systems on routes where vehicles pass at high speed. These vehicles sometimes cause serious accidents. When the system is started, if the vehicle is driven at a speed exceeding the prescribed limit, the speed will be recorded and a photo will be captured in the evidence cameras installed on the road.
The vehicle registration number will be recorded in the ANPR camera. Here the information will go directly to the control room. After this the e-challan will be sent to the vehicle owner’s mobile. 34 evidence cameras and 68 ANPR cameras have been installed at these 17 points.
