Rohini Assembly Seat: The trumpet of Delhi elections has been sounded. All the political parties are busy solving their own equations in the state. Due to diversity in North-West Delhi during assembly elections, the matter becomes thorny in every election. Rohini area of ​​Delhi comes under North West Delhi Lok Sabha assembly constituency. After delimitation in 2008, it came into existence as an independent assembly constituency. Earlier this assembly constituency was part of many other assemblies.
Rapid urbanization has taken place
Due to the efforts of DDA, there has been rapid urbanization in this assembly constituency and today it is included in the most developed assembly constituencies of Delhi. Rohini is one of the 12 zones of Delhi Municipal Corporation and the area of ​​this assembly is approximately 3,015 hectares. The population here is about 8,60,000, which is continuously increasing. There are ample number of markets, schools, colleges and hospitals here, making it an ideal urban assembly constituency. Apart from this, the availability of Delhi Metro service has made the life of the residents even easier, enabling them to connect with other assembly constituencies of Delhi.
BJP’s strong hold
If seen from political point of view, BJP has seen a strong hold in the last few elections in Rohini assembly constituency. BJP’s Vijendra Gupta registered a landslide victory in the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, he got 62,174 votes. His main rival Rajesh Nama Bansiwala of Aam Aadmi Party got 49,526 votes, while Sumesh Gupta of Congress got only 1,963 votes. Earlier, in the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections also, BJP’s Vijendra Gupta had received 59,867 votes and was victorious.
In this election, Aam Aadmi Party’s C.L. Gupta got 54,500 votes and Congress’s Sukhbir Sharma got 3,399 votes. BJP’s influence in Rohini assembly constituency has remained strong and the party has achieved a strong victory in both the elections. Arvind Kejriwal was rising in the 2013 assembly elections. In that election, Rajesh Garg of Aam Aadmi Party won by defeating Jai Bhagwan Aggarwal of BJP by 1872 votes. Rajesh Garg got 47890 votes while his rival BJP’s Jai Bhagwan Aggarwal got 46018 votes.
Voting is on 5th February
Voting for Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 will be held in a single phase on 5 February. According to the Election Commission, a total of 1.55 crore voters including 83,49,645 men, 71,73,952 women and 1,261 third gender voters will exercise their valuable right. The result will be announced on 8 February. With the announcement of the election date, the election ‘Model Code of Conduct’ has come into force in Delhi.
