Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni has given a big statement regarding businessman George Soros. He said that George Soros interferes in the domestic politics of other countries and uses his money to destabilize the countries. These comments of Georgia Meloni have come at a time when Elon Musk is being criticized for his alleged interference in the politics of Europe.
Meloni said that on the social media platform X, Elon Musk’s statements about politics in Europe do not pose a threat to democracy in any way. Whereas billionaire George Soros actually appears to be a threat to democracy and political interference.
The Italian Prime Minister claimed that George Soros has been interfering in the politics of Europe for a long time. Questioning reporters, he said, “Elon Musk is just exercising his right to freedom of speech.” He also asked, “Is it a problem that his views are ‘right of center’? Or is the problem with Elon Musk because he is rich and influential? Or is it because he is not left-wing?”
Citing the example of George Soros, Georgia Meloni said that it is known that rich and powerful people with ‘leftist ideology’ use money to interfere in the democracy and politics of other countries.
He said, “George Soros, not Elon Musk, poses a threat to democracies.” On this, Elon Musk immediately responded by saying, “And Soros is losing.”
Meloni said that he has not taken any money from Elon Musk, while many people have taken money from George Soros. He also denied media reports that his government in Italy is about to sign a huge and controversial cyber security deal with Elon Musk’s company SpaceX.
Elon Musk, who gave massive support to Donald Trump and helped him win the US elections, is now facing severe criticism from liberals across Europe for his attacks on several European leaders on his social media website X. Elon Musk has especially strongly targeted British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
This has worried many people in Europe, which is already seeing a rise in support for the far right across the continent. Addressing those concerns at a press conference, Meloni said that Elon Musk’s views on X cannot be described as ‘dangerous’ in any way.
The Italian Prime Minister said, “It becomes a problem when rich people use their resources to influence certain political parties, associations, organizations and political opponents around the world, to influence the political choices of another nation.” He further said, “Musk is not doing this.”
She said, “I am not aware of Elon Musk funding political parties, associations or political opponents around the world. Like George Soros does the same. I consider this a dangerous interference in the sovereignty of nations and their affairs. “
It is noteworthy that George Soros has formed an Open Society Foundation, which supports and finances a wide network of NGOs around the world. His foundation reportedly claims to promote good governance, liberal public policy initiatives and democracy-building programs. However, Soros and his foundation face many serious allegations including political interference, promoting social anarchy, funding political parties during elections and so on. They are also often targeted for anti-Semitic conspiracies.
