Jodhpur:- A serious case of medical negligence has come to light during a cesarean delivery in the government hospital of Kuchaman. During the operation, the doctors left a towel in the woman’s stomach, due to which the woman had to suffer from continuous stomach pain for three months. The 32-year-old victim, suffering from pain, got treatment in government and private hospitals of Kuchaman and Makrana, but no correct diagnosis could be made. Even in the CT scan done in Ajmer, it was said that there was a “lump” in the stomach. When the pain became unbearable, the family took the woman to Jodhpur AIIMS. Here investigation revealed that there was a 15×10 cm towel in the woman’s stomach, which was removed through surgery.
Woman suffered from pain for 3 months
After CT scan in AIIMS, information about the presence of a foreign body inside came to light. After this the doctors decided to operate. Even the doctors were shocked to see the towel during the operation. Such a big sized towel was stuck to the intestines and caused damage to the intestines. During this period, the woman took many types of tablets to get relief from pain for 3 months, due to which other parts of her body were also damaged. Due to stomach ache, the woman was able to eat very little food, due to which her breast was producing very little milk. Because of this, her newborn baby has to be fed outside milk. In its absence, the risk of the child remaining malnourished throughout his life also increases.
The woman’s brother-in-law Manmohan told Local 18 that his sister-in-law was delivered in a hospital in Kuchaman three months ago. There the doctor said that both the child and the mother were healthy. After this he was shifted to the normal ward. Usually he is discharged in two to three days. But after this he got fever and infection. The doctor kept the matter of negligence hidden. After being admitted for about ten days, the doctors discharged him.
The operation lasted for five hours
The woman was admitted to AIIMS on 15 November. After this the operation was done on 17 November. This operation continued for about five hours. After this the doctors gave the towel in a three kg plastic box. After this he was admitted for about eight days. For now the woman has been discharged.
newborn drinking external milk
The victim’s husband told Local 18 that due to stomach pain and less food, the victim’s body was not producing enough milk, as a result the newborn was being fed external milk since birth. The woman’s digestive system was affected due to damage to her intestines. But later the doctors of AIIMS have advised to take liquid diet and light diet for the next three-four months.

Petition filed in Jodhpur High Court
Advocate Sarwar Khan said that several complaints were made on behalf of the victim to various departments in this matter. Despite this, no concrete action has been taken. In this matter a petition has been filed in Jodhpur High Court. On the basis of the complaint given in the police station, a request has been made to register an FIR and include the doctor of AIIMS Jodhpur as a member in the investigation committee, so that action can be taken as soon as possible and the victim can get justice. Complaints have also been made to the Medical Council of India and Human Rights Commission.
